ATOD Syllabus Jazz Dance Classes

For class costs, please see the Fee Structure & Discounts Page.
Jazz dance encompasses a wide variety of dance styles and can take many different forms using a broad range of music.

Within a jazz class particular attention is paid to establishing solid dance technique.  At Bass Coast Ballet we use the ATOD syllabus to formulate our jazz classes.
Australian Teachers of Dancing (A.T.O.D. Ltd) have developed a unique approach to educating dance students. Jazz is a continually changing and evolving genre. This new and innovative syllabus encompasses all styles from foundation Jazz to the very latest moves.

The Syllabus incorporates a comprehensive warm-up, stretches, floor and corner work, turns, kicks and jumps, historical steps, up to the minute moves, combinations, progressions and a dance, finishing with a cool down and stretch. Technique progresses systematically to build strength, energy and attack. Students develop techniques to individually reach their full potential and to enhance their individual creativity. Student choreography and improvisation included in the major levels .
